Convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein now faces charges of sex trafficking. These charges, if found convicted, could put him in jail for the rest of his life.

ABC News reports “The pursuit of justice for women who have accused millionaire Jeffrey Epstein of sexually abusing them will have to wait at least another year.”

The reason for the delay, according to The Daily Beast, is that the defense plans on overwhelming the process with millions of documents. It will take at least a year for all the parties to go through them. According to The Daily Beast, “Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking trial will have a million pages of discovery, including materials on devices seized from his Manhattan mansion, lawyers said today.

“The sex offender financier was back in court on Wednesday as his defense attorneys duked it out with prosecutors over how quickly to go to trial. The prosecution has requested a June date but the defense is fighting to delay until September 2020. The trial, prosecutors said, will last four to six weeks.”

It is also speculated that many of these documents includes information on some very rich and powerful individuals some of whom have already been accused by others.

New York Magazine noted “After Jeffrey Epstein’s arrest on sex-trafficking charges… the Miami Herald reporter behind the paper’s dogged investigations into the wealthy money manager said he isn’t the only prominent person this scandal is likely to ensnare.

“’There are probably quite a few important people, powerful people, who are sweating it out right now,’ Julie K. Brown said on MSNBC. ‘We’ll have to wait and see whether Epstein is going to name names.’

“Over the years, Epstein has counted some of the country’s most powerful political and business leaders among his friends. They’ve visited his private island, flown on his private jet, and had him as a guest in their homes. Most of the well-known figures linked to Epstein have not been accused of any wrongdoing, but a few have been accused of participating in his sex-trafficking ring.”

The magazine went on to name some very prominent names (all of them alleged):

  • Bill Clinton. “Clinton said he knew nothing of Epstein’s ‘terrible crimes’ and that the two hadn’t spoken in a decade. But the picture of their relationship painted by the former president doesn’t square with flight logs that put Clinton on Epstein’s jet, dubbed the ‘Lolita Express,’ 26 times between 2001 and 2003. Or with Gawker’s 2015 report on Epstein’s little black book, which included “21 contact numbers and various email addresses for Clinton.”  The former President claims he only went on a total of four trips on Epstein’s plane.
  • Donald Trump.  “Trump has also been accused of assaulting a woman on Epstein’s property. During the 2016 election, an anonymous California woman filed a lawsuit alleging that Trump and Epstein raped her at the latter’s New York City mansion in 1994, when she was 13. Several journalists expressed confusion or skepticism after looking into the story. Trump denied the allegations and the woman dropped her suit weeks before the election.”

  • Prince Andrew. “The Duke of York, Prince Charles’s younger brother, is a longtime personal friend of Epstein’s and has been directly accused of having sexwith at least one underage girl. In 2015 court documents, Virginia Roberts Giuffre, seen here in a photo with Prince Andrew, said she was coerced into having sex with the British royal. She also said she was forced to participate in an orgy with other underage girls and the Prince. Buckingham Palace has denied the claims.”
  • Other prominent names mentioned on the article:
    • Famed defense attorney Alan Dershowitz, who also represented Epstein.
    • Ghislaine Maxwell, the daughter of the famed British publisher and one time girlfriend of Epstein. She has been accused of recruiting young girls for Epstein.
    • Leslie Wexner The 81-year-old CEO of L Brands, which owns Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works.
    • Mort Zuckerman Media mogul, billionaire, and former owner of the New York Daily News and the Atlantic.
    • Larry Summers Former Harvard president and Clinton Treasury Secretary connected with Epstein mostly for fundraising purposes for the university. He also appeared in the “Lolita” flight logs.
    • Harvey Weinstein — the man that needs no introduction.
    • Then there were famed actor, director, and producer, Woody Allen, Bill Barr (the current US Attorney General), Ken Starr (the Special Prosecutor in the Bill Clinton Impeachment), and many others.

How many others? According to the New York Magazine piece, “Epstein’s 92-page address book, which was published by Gawker, has entries for Alec BaldwinRalph FiennesTed KennedyDavid KochCourtney Love, and former New Mexico governors Bill Richardson and Bruce King— though it’s unclear what, if any, connection he had to these celebrities and political figures.”

It appears, with “millions” of documents, Epstein took copious and frequent notes of his encounters and associates. These are some of the most powerful people in business and politics. There has already been speculation about his well being since Epstein was found unconscious in his jail cell.  With so many notes and (almost) 100 page “black book,” one gets the sense that if Epstein goes down for (essentially life), he will take others with him.

Speculation on the case includes him getting off of the charges because of “Double Jeopardy” to him literally being in danger because of the powerful people he can destroy.  For Epstein, the release of these documents over a year puts pressure on others to make something happen. Speculation is that it will be several months before documents begin to be transferred to the state, much can happen in that timeframe.
